Kicks for Kids Initiative
Giving families and kids in the Greater Toronto Area a positive start to a new school year by providing aid and easing the financial burden that may come hand in hand with back-to-school shopping. Every child deserves a great first day of school.
Did you know?
Toronto currently has the highest child poverty rate among major Canadian cities. In 2022, 25.3% of children—approximately 117,890 young people—were living in low-income families, marking an 8.5 percentage point increase since 2020.
Alarmingly, in nine of Toronto’s 25 wards, over 30% of children live in poverty, with some neighbourhoods experiencing rates as high as 61%. Children in single-parent households, particularly those led by women, are disproportionately affected, with over half living below the poverty line.
Kicks for Kids’s mission is to help reduce those rates via community engagement and financial support.
Over 850 children reached in 4 years and we hope to reach 1000 by the end of 2025!

Ensure each child on our list gets brand new shoes, clothing, school bags, school supplies and more
Engage the community to participate in our events and learn about our initiative
Collaborate with other organizations such as the Brampton Latino Association and United Scarborough Initiative.

At Kicks for Kids TO, our mission continues to grow alongside the needs of the communities we serve. As we look ahead to 2025 and beyond, our goal is to reach more donors, sponsors, and loyal supporters who share our vision of creating positive change in the lives of children. With your support, we aim to expand our reach—not only helping more shelters across the city but also extending our programs to support low-income families who may not reside in shelters yet still face daily challenges. Through stronger partnerships, increased visibility, and continued dedication, we hope to make a lasting impact—one child, one family, and one community at a time.
